Dry Eye is an increasingly common issue Dr. Chan was seeing among her patients so after much research into the subject, she decided to bring in the latest technology and become the first dry Eye Center of Excellence in Vancouver, WA.
Below are some of the common symptoms patients may experience.
- Burning and redness
- Ocular fatigue
- Foreign body sensation
- Sensitivity to light
- Excessive tearing
- Symptoms worsen later in the day
- Transient blurring
- Contact lens intolerance
What is the latest technology you ask?
Well there's the Lipiview, used for diagnosing many of the root causes of dry eye disease . Studies have shown that 86% of dry eye patients have Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) as a primary cause of dry eye. It is important to test for MGD to direct treatment appropriately.
Then there's the Lipiflow, which is the machine that is used to most accurately treat patients with MGD. The LipiFlow uniquely applies a combination of heat and pressure to the inner eyelid to safely remove gland obstructions and stagnant gland content.
